With the New Year here, there’s work to be done, and Gov. Pat Quinn wants to focus on job creation.  Quinn says his biggest focus is getting people back to work, which in turn will help the state’s economy. “The best way to deal with that is robust growth,” Quinn said. Quinn says rebuilding infrastructure as outlined in the public works program is the best way to get folks up and working.

Quinn says there will likely be some reforms as well. He will be putting together a working group to look at pensions. “There will be an active working group just as there were on other issues this past year,” Quinn said. Working groups were created to tackle reforms in education, unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation.  Quinn will outline many of his plans at the State of the State address on Feb. 1.
