A unique fundraiser by the local United Way brought in more money in its second year. The Power of the Purse was held in late April and now that all the bills have been paid, the event earned more than $18,600 for the annual fundraising campaign
There were more than a dozen local businessmen who served as models for the donated designer purses that were then bid on by more than 250 women in attendance.
United Way Marketing and Communications Manager Natasha Day tells the Big Z says it was a fun night.
