Madison County Treasurer Kurt Prenzler's office mailed about 137,000 tax bills on Friday, and expects to collect more than $381-million from property owners this year. They received their first payment just about an hour the property owner received her bill. Janice Watson of South Roxana got her bill last Monday morning and made a bee-line to the treasurer's office in Edwardsville.
She may, however, be the exception as many are expected to take advantage of the ability to pay online. The online bill-pay has been reformatted to be similar to other online shopping sites, according to Treasurer Kurt Prenzler.
In addition to online bill pay, you can pay in person, mail a check, or pay at any of a number of financial institutions. This year the due dates for the four-payment plan are July 10, September 10, October 10 and December 10. For more information on any of the payment options, call Treasurer's Office Help Desk at 692-6260, or by clicking on the link to the treasurer's website.
