Alton's Amphitheater is heading into its fourth year of operation, and city officials are bringing back Triple Jam Productions to promote a series of summer concerts this year. The venue annually hosts a variety of concerts, including the The Big Gig and the Mississippi Earthtones Festival, and a series of Thursday night concerts that included several tribute acts last year, but national touring acts like Head East and Cracker in 2010.
The venue will again likely have a mix of free and ticketed events. There is also discussion of bringing in more national acts, and possibly a well-known rib festival. One of the more consistent draws over the past couple of years has been Think Floyd, a tribute to Pink Floyd. There is no word yet on which acts may be booked for the 2012 concert series, or if they will all fall on Thursdays again.
