A Madison County Probation Officer is facing charges after authorities say she aided two men who were trying to hide after they allegedly attacked a man a few days before Christmas. 52 year old Mary Little of the 3400 block of Milton Road is charged with obstruction of justice and aiding a fugitive after prosecutors say she aided two men who were later charged with aggravated battery and unlawful restraint.
According to a release from the Madison County State's Attorney's Office, Little helped brothers 36 year old Stephen Finn and 37 year old Robert Finn of Alton after they allegedly battered a male victim on December 23, busting his eye socket, and then bound him with duct tape before he was able to escape. Authorities allege Little, who was not on duty at the time, washed clothing worn by Robert Finn during the battery and then concealed him in her home so he could avoid arrest. The men are neighbors to Little and long-time acquaintances. The Finn brothers are being held in the Madison County Jail, and Little was arrested yesterday afternoon. Her status as a probation officer is in question, as county officials plan to take action against her pending the outcome of the case. The state Appellate Prosecutor's Office is handling the case for Madison County.
