The more seasonable winter temperatures are finally here, and with readings in the 20's and 30's, you may notice your house has a draft or two. There is still time to fix those problems before you pump too much money through the cracks, according to an expert with the Better Business Bureau.
Investigator Bill Smith says you should clean or replace your furnace's filters, and have a professional make sure it is working properly. Consider adding insulation, and check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. He tells The Big Z you should also be ready for the first snow fall.

As for a home emergency kit, you should have things like bottled water, a first aid kit, a battery-operated radio, fresh batteries, candles, matches, and non-perishable foods.
