An Edwardsville High School graduate has donated $4 million for a new Olympic sized swimming pool to be constructed at the district sports complex.  Sharon Fruit was on hand on Monday during the official announcement of the project, and to present the check from the Charles and Sharon Fruit Foundation.  The pool complex will be connected to the building that already houses a wrestling center.

Fruit said swimming was part of her late husband's exercise routine, and since they were high school sweethearts from Edwardsville decided this would be a good project to support.  Another $1.3 million will come from the district's fund raising foundation, and the building will be called the Charles Fruit Aquatic Center at Edwardsville High School.  It will be one of only two Olympic sized pools in the St. Louis metro area, and allow swimmers from around the region to train and compete at a higher level.
