Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, the Madison County Sheriff's Department arrested two people suspected in two recent burglaries in Alton and Godfrey. One break in occurred on September 12 at a home in the 4900 block of Paris Drive in Godfrey. Another took place September 22 in the 300 block of Tara Avenue in Alton. Following an investigation, authorities arrested 29 year old Christopher Lewis of the 300 block of Tara in Alton on Sunday, and 18 year old Baylee Nicolini of the 200 block of Alben Street in Alton yesterday. Both are charged in connection with the Godfrey burglary, and Lewis faces additional charges in the robbery on Tara Avenue.
Alton Police were also investigating the report of a recent break in at a vacant home in the 100 block of 15th Street in which the owner reports the theft of all the copper wiring and pipe from the residence, along with a window air unit, stove and kitchen sink. A similar case is being investigated at a vacant home in the 1200 block of West 9th Street where copper pipe was reported stolen. There was also a report of a burglary at a home in the 2400 block of Eddler Street, all within the last week.
There was no one else new reported held during the other local checks from earlier today.
