In local police reports, Alton Police responded to an emergency call of a car on the railroad tracks just off Washington Avenue/Humbert Road near Bowl Haven. The call came in just after 8am with police and Alton Fire crews working the scene. The driver of the car apparently lost control and crashed, ending up on the railroad tracks just north of the Bowl Haven parking lot. First responders were able to remove the driver, 24-year-old Emily Newby of the 3400 block of Leo Drive in Alton, from the vehicle and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The car was later removed from the scene, but the accident did not slow any train traffic. Newby was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Alton Police and Fire responded to an overturned tractor trailer on the Homer Adams Parkway at Broadway yesterday afternoon just before 3:30. The driver of the truck was attempting a left turn from the parkway onto Broadway when the truck tipped over on its side. The driver was not injured.
East Alton Police arrested 24-year-old Jamie Holliday of the 800 block of South Street in East Alton on two outstanding warrants. 38 year old Jason Donohoo of the 700 block of East Woodland in East Alton, on a warrant for theft from Bethalto Police.
