Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, A 37-year old, Granite City man has been charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance (heroin). The Madison County Sheriff's Office reports that Billy J. McCallister of the 620 block of Margaret Avenue in Granite City was arrested on Tuesday after he reportedly told a family member he would batter her when she returned home. Deputies tracked McCallister to a home in the 100 block of Big Four Place in Granite City. He allegedly had 4 grams of cannabis, a syringe and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance when deputies made contact. He was transported to a hospital and taken into custody following his release. McCallister is being held on a $20,000 bond.
The Sheriff's Office also reports drug charges against 31-year old, David P. Lane of the 300 block of Williams Street in Bethalto. Officials with the Sheriff's Department say that deputies responded to a residence in the first block of Dell Avenue in East Alton about 1:30 on Friday morning in response to a trespassing complaint against Lane. He was later located by Bethalto Police in the parking lot of QuikTrip in Bethalto and was taken into custody by sheriff's deputies and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and six Vicodin tablets. He has been charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodine) and two misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
