Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, a Brighton woman has been charged following a rollover accident on the Homer Adams Parkway in Alton earlier this week. 18 year old Brandie Menzie of the 2600 block of Blue Ridge, was charged with driving under the influence. Her car ran off the roadway Tuesday morning, overturned, and caught fire. She and two other female passengers were able to escape the car without injury.
Alton Police also reported a broken out window at the River of Life Family Church on Fosterburg Road. A person cutting the grass noticed a broken out window Wednesday morning and called police. It appears someone used a landscaping brick to knock out the glass near the youth center, but police found no one inside the building.
The Madison County Sheriff's Department arrested 37 year old Gerry E. LeClaire, Junior, of the 1300 block of White Oak Trail in Godfrey for aggravated battery. Police say a neighbor had gone to the LeClaire home to report what appeared to be a broken outdoor faucet that was leaking. During the conversation with a woman at the home, the suspect confronted the victim and struck him twice on the arm with a pair of pliers causing a minor injury.
There was no one new reported held in the East Alton or Wood River jails earlier today.
