An Edwardsville police officer is accused of taking pictures and videos of women in a tanning salon without their permission. Authorities allege 46 year old Michael Collins put his cell phone over the wall to capture the images of at least three different women at the Image Sun Tanning Center in Glen Carbon. He was arrested and charged with three counts of unauthorized video recording.
Collins posted bail but has been suspended from work as an officer with the department. He was also a D.A.R.E. officer in the Edwardsville School District, but so far authorities say they have not uncovered any evidence that would be connected to his official duties. Glen Carbon Police were called by a woman who witnessed the man taking the pictures of her, and officers were able to confiscate the phone at the scene last Tuesday. The Illinois State Police and the FBI have been called in to oversee the investigation and identified at least two other female victims. Authorities believe the alleged incidents took place early last week.
