A Wood River man is charged in connection with an alleged meth making operation in the 200 block of 13th Street near Central Grade School. 24-year-old Samuel W. Burney has been charged with aggravated participation in meth manufacturing following his arrest on Sunday afternoon.
Wood River Police say they received two 9-1-1 calls from the home on Sunday afternoon claiming there was a disturbance, and when officers arrived found a man climbing out a window. They determined the man was the 9-1-1 caller and a resident of the home. Police were given consent to search the home, and discovered what they believed was a meth lab. No one else was found inside the residence. The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was contacted and responded to collect evidence and cleanup the property. Burney is in custody on $150,000 bond. He faces between 15-60 years in jail if found guilty of the crime.
