Alton Police stumbled upon a suspected Meth making operation in the city on Wednesday. Authorities were responding to a 911 call in the 2600 block of Yager about a domestic dispute, but reportedly found materials similar to those used in the production of the drug and took several people into custody. Those suspects could face formal charges today from the Madison County State's Attorney.
Police were on the scene for several hours, including members of the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team and Alton Building and Zoning. Alton Police Department public information officer Emily Hejna says an infant was living at the home, and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was also contacted. She says when officers arrived it did not appear any drug was being produced, but they recognized items that could be used in the making the illegal substance.
