Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, the Madison County Sheriff's Department reports 23 year old Geneshia Grey of East St. Louis is charged with burglary and contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor. Authorities allege Grey stole more than $100,000 in jewelry from Hurley and Company Jewelry in Granite City on August 27 when she entered the store with her children during the afternoon. Police say surveillance footage shows Grey distracting an employee while her children crabbed dozens of jewelry boxes, placing them in her purse and a bag she carried into the store. Police have recovered about $10,000 worth of the jewelry so far and are searching for Grey.
An Alton woman was charged Tuesday following an alleged attack against a male victim earlier this summer. 46 year old Tracy Taylor of the 600 block of Broadway is charged with aggravated battery.
