Police in Alton arrested an Iowa woman after receiving a tip she was hiding out in the area.  24 year old Cherish Wise was apparently staying at a home in the 300 block of Lakeside in Godfrey and was arrested during a traffic stop on North Alby by Alton Police and the Madison County Sheriff's Department.  Wise was wanted on several felony warrants and theft charges.   An Alton man is charged in connection with two thefts at convenience stores.  29 year old William Morgan of Alton is charged with two counts of burglary for break-in's at the Farm Fresh on Fosterburg Road and the Hit and Run on State Street.   

Alton Police are also investigating five vehicle break-in's off State Street on Danforth and Hawley Streets earlier this week.   And nearby, the Madison County Sheriff's Department is investigating the report of four vehicle break in's on Lawton Street this week.  A backpack with personal belongings and a GPS system were stolen in those burglaries.  Police continue to investigate and advise residents to lock their vehicles and keep any personal items out of sight.

Wood River Police this morning were holding 19 year old Jerome Graves of Wood River for violation of an order of protection.
