The Madison County Sheriff’s Department has made eight arrests in connection with several burglaries over the past month. Victims, and witnesses were able to describe possible suspects and their vehicles and authorities apprehended and charged the suspects this week.
The suspects were arrested and charged after police stepped up patrols following the reports of the initial thefts late last month, and earlier this month. Thefts were reported on May 7 on East Golike Lane in Bethalto and Loop Road in Dorsey; on May 11 on Maple Street in East Alton; and May 12 on Seiler Road in Bethalto. Multiple thefts were reported on Antler Drive, Lake Drive and Royal Oaks Drive in Troy between April 29 and May 16. Charged with burglary are local residents 26 year old Byron Delp, Junior, of Cottage Hills, 28 year old Duane Reams of Bethalto, and 23 year old Chad Latty of East Alton in connection with cases in East Alton or Bethalto. 24-year-old Terral Barnes of Cahokia is charged with burglary and aggravated battery for allegedly pushing a victim over the age of 60 during one the incidents. 38 year old Augustin Martinez of Lancing, Michigan, is charged with attempted burglary and residential burglary; 35 year old Amber Medina of Caseyville is charged with attempted burglary and residential burglary; 24 year old Haley Severit of St. Jacob is charged with theft over $500; and 32 year old Justin McClain of St. Jacob is charged with residential burglary, burglary, and theft over $500.
