“The average height of all corn now stands at 13 inches, a growth of six inches in just one week,” Schwab said. He says 66 percent of the corn crop is rated in good or excellent condition. Soybean planting is at 94 percent complete compared to 56 percent this time last year. Schwab says 78 percent of planted soybeans have emerged compared to 25 percent a year ago. Rain, or a lack of it, is likely on farmer’s minds. “As the corn crop continues to mature …you certainly would like to see it progress and not to be stressed at this point as it continues to mature,” Schwab said.
