There has been a change in the contract with Mahoney Asphalt as the completion of Godfrey's Piasa Hills street repaving project moves toward completion.  In particular, the village is hoping to fix portions of Vollmer Lane and an area near an adjoining private driveway that have been damaged by vehicles using it for access to a lift station.  It looks like the fix may be a lot cheaper than originally thought.

The scenario was set up when the contractor apparently chipped a water service control box during the rotomilling, or asphalt removal process.  Village Trustee Mike Stumpf:

His fellow trustees agreed it was a good deal, and gave first reading to approving an $11,000 payment for the additional asphalt it is expected to require to finish the project.  If the repaving is done by the end of the year, the work will have been completed a year and a half ahead of projections.
