The newest candidate for lieutenant governor says his top priority is pension reform. Paul Vallas, Gov. Pat Quinn’s running mate for 2014 election, says the state’s biggest need is solving the pension problems permanently. “That means addressing the $100 billion unfunded liability, because that impacts everything,” said Vallas. “It impacts the future of the tax climate; it impacts the future of local governments.”
