A free seminar targeting problems faced by many in the community, including violence, hunger, health issues and poverty, is coming up a week from Friday. On March 23, the community is invited to the Main Street Methodist Church in Alton for the event sponsored by the Third Judicial Circuit Family Violence Prevention Council, Oasis Women's Center, Bread for the World and the church.
Judge Barbara Crowder (pictured) is co-chair of the Family Violence Prevention Council. She says they will deal with these problems, and then offer solutions.
There is no cost to attend, and lunch and refreshments will be provided. Organizers ask that you RSVP, but will not turn away anyone that shows up the day of the event. You can secure your spot by calling 462-2495, or 465-1978. The seminar runs from 9:30am to 3pm.
