You can spend some time on the water Saturday during the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Riverlands Paddle Festival in the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary. It's a day on the water with canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards in the calm backwaters of Ellis Bay near the Clark Bridge and the Mel Price Locks and Dam.

There will be a variety of activities from 11am-4pm.  If you get there early, you can start your day with yoga by the river from 9:30-10:30am.  Erin Hilligoss-Volkmann, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, says there will be activities suited for all skill levels, even if you have never paddled before.

The cost is $5, and that covers your insurance for the day.  At 1pm, the Mississippi Water Trail Association will be celebrating the dedication of the Mississippi River Water Trail as a national water trail.  The ceremony will also feature a paddle parade on Ellis Bay.  For more information on this event, call 462-6979.
