The Spirit of Peoria Paddlewheel Boat will take guests on scenic cruises a couple of more times this season, with the final trips scheduled the 8th and 9th of October. The boat's season is drawing to a close, but word has come down that the vessel will be back in 2014. Organizers say the cruises continue to be very popular.
Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau President Brett Stawar says crowds have been good.
This is one of the only authentic paddlewheelers still cruising the Mississippi. The Spirit of Peoria was designed by architect Alan Bates, and built in 1988 in Paducah, Kentucky. It routinely travels up and down the Illinois River and Mississippi River. For more information on the cruises, call 1-800-258-6645, or follow the link at this story at AltonDailyNews.com.
