While the future of Alton's Haskell House may not be any more certain than before Monday's meeting, the issues appear to be clearer to at least the 60 in attendance.  The city's Park & Recreation Department held a meeting to discuss the future of the building that has now been vacant for a number of years.

Alton Park & Recreation Director Mike Haynes tells The Big Z the crowd heard about the numerous structural issues, including the need for a new roof.

A date for a follow-up meeting has not been set.  Some ideas included turning the building into a bed and breakfast, office space, condos, or a number of other uses.
