An override of Illinois Governor Pat Quinn's amendatory veto of the concealed carry bill sent to him by lawmakers is expected today. The governor used his amendatory powers to make changes to concealed carry legislation approved by lawmakers late in this year's spring session. Those changes are not sitting well with many Southern Illinoisans, no matter their political affiliation.
Alton State Senator Bill Haine says those who support more restrictive gun regulations are missing the point.
Haine says the Governor is appealing to his Chicago base, which as a whole support restrictive gun laws. Lawmakers will need a three-fifths majority in both chambers if they want to override the changes made by the governor.
