The founder of Operation Blessing in Wood River has been recognized by the city's Rotary Club for her years of hard work and dedication to the community. The Wood River Rotary presented Virginia Kirkpatrick with the Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary International's most prestigious award, at the club's regular meeting on Monday.
Wood River Mayor and Rotary member Frank Akers tells The Big Z Kirkpatrick founded Operation Blessing in 1983 to provide emergency food supplies to needy residents of Wood River, Choteau and Fort Russell Townships.

Operation Blessing regularly provides 3-day supplies of food to more than 4,000 area residents through partnerships with the United Way, St. Louis Area Food Bank, local churches, businesses, service clubs, and individuals.
