The local Salvation Army kicked off it's Tree of Lights, Red Kettle Campaign last month, and donations are keeping pace with projections. The kettles are outside most major shopping centers in the region, as well as department stores, grocery stores and drug stores. Bell ringers at two locations will have added incentive to fill the kettles this weekend, as a local industrial leader has announced a donation-matching program.
Alton Salvation Army Lieutenant Bryan Ellison says Olin is matching the money collected at the 17 locations it has placed its kettles on Saturday - the final Saturday before Christmas
The fundraising goal this year for the local Salvation Army is $114,000.
