The oldest man in the nation died last week, and he happened to live right here in Illinois. One hundred eleven year old Shelby Harris died of natural causes in his sleep at the Rock Island Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he's lived for the past six years. The "Quad City Times" reports Harris was very popular in the community with, "lots of great stories."
In fact, he threw out the first pitch at a Quad-Cities River Bandits baseball game back in April. The newspaper reports Harris was the third oldest person in the world.
