An Edwardsville Police Officer is facing more charges. 41-year-old Brian Barker is now charged with arson, five counts of burglary, and one count of money laundering. He is allegedly responsible for starting the fire that damaged State Representative Dwight Kay’s Edwardsville office in November 2013.
Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons tells The Big Z there may still be more charges to come.

Last week a dispatcher with the Edwardsville Police Department – 42-year-old Keri L. Knight – was indicted by a Madison County Grand Jury for allegedly obstructing the investigation. Barker was initially charged a little over a month ago with Burglary and Official Misconduct in connection with a burglary at Reality Salon and Spa over the weekend, and an additional eleven Burglary charges, a Residential Burglary charge and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of Stolen Firearms charge for unsolved crimes dating back to 2012.
