The Oak Ridge Boys will hit the stage at the Alton Riverfront Amphitheater tonight. The country group, that may be best known for it's hit song "Elvira," has been secured by Alton Steel to headline a concert marking the 10 year anniversary of the business. The concert is a sell out, although technically no tickets were sold - it is a free concert booked as a thank you to its employees and to the community.
Oak Ridge Boys member Richard Sterban told Z-1570 listeners Friday that the band is enjoying its 40th anniversary this year.
Gates open this afternoon at 4:30, with the SIUE Jazz Quartet taking the stage at 5pm. The Oak Ridge Boys go on at 6pm, and a fireworks show will wrap things up a little after 7:30. If you don't have a ticket, the show will be shown on a jumbotron outside the venue.
