A large-scale police presence in Godfrey Sunday morning did not result in any charges. A number of members of the Madison County Sheriff's Department responded to a situation in a neighborhood just off of North Alby Street just before 8am, staging in the parking lot of Cornerstone Church.
They were called to the area due to someone who had made "disturbing comments." It has been classified as a medical issue, so no further information is available, other than there will be no criminal charges. Social media speculation that Homeland Security was on the scene are not true, according to a spokesman from the sheriff's office, who says they were using the church as a staging area because of the uncertainty about the weather.
