The New Year's holiday nearly here, and state and local police are going to be out in force. Cops will participate in the "Click it or Ticket" and "You Drink, You Drive You Lose" campaigns to help keep motorists safe this weekend and well into the New Year. The potential to come across these checks encourages motorsits to arrange designated drivers, keep their consumption of alcohol within the allowable limits, or not drive after drinking.
Illinois State Police Trooper Mike Link of District 11 in Collinsville says many people who will be out partying may rent a limousine or a "party bus."
Link recommends designating a sober driver and not letting friends and family members drive impaired. Across the country, an average of one alcohol-related death occurs every 45-minutes.
