The Bethalto School District Board of Education has hired a new superintendent after declining to renew the contract of the current one. Charles Stegall will finish out the school year. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jill Griffin will take over the office on July 1.
Dr. Griffin is a Bethalto native, having graduated from Civic Memorial High School before going on to study at SIUE. There, she received her Masters in Instructional Technology, a Specialist in Education. She has taught first grade in the school district, and also served as a Reading Recovery teacher before moving on to work as a building and central office administrator for ten years. Stegall recently accepted a dual-superintendency for the St. Anne Elementary and High School Districts in St. Anne, Illinois, which is located in Kankakee County south of Chicago.
