Mike BellmAlton High School has a new principal.  Mike Bellm, who has been with the district since 1993, was appointed to the job by the Alton School Board at its Tuesday night meeting.  Bellm started his career as an English Teacher and varsity baseball coach.

Bellm has been an assistant principal at Alton High for the past ten years.

Other appointments include Cynthia Inman as Alton Middle School Principal.  The board also approved administrative salary increases at an average of 2.45%, and reestablished a position of Middle School Assistant Principal after the position was eliminated three years ago as a cost-saving measure.  Several college-recruited student athletes were recognized, and you can see a list of those students below.  A group of citizens also attended, with three speaking against the so-called bathroom mandate that would allow transgender students pick which bathroom they wish to use.  In a prepared statement, Interim Superintendent Mark Cappel said the district would examine the issue on a case by case basis.
