Buying a lottery ticket in Illinois could mean you’re paying for a cure for multiple sclerosis. The Illinois Lottery released a new ticket named “Mission Move” and will send all the profits to the National MS Society. It’s common for games to help a cause. A large portion of state assistance for schools is funded in part from the lottery. Spokeswoman Sara Barnett says that may attract new players.

“There’s people out there who may not be regular lottery players,” Barnett says, “but they see a ticket like this one, like Mission Move, or the Veteran’s Cash and they say ‘Hey I know someone who has MS and I can feel like I’m doing something and maybe I’ll win some money doing it.’” The Lottery expects to raise $1 million from the ticket by May, when stores will replace it with a new charity ticket.
