Too often, bills can’t become law because they get bottled up in committee. But in this case, most people seem to agree it’s a vine idea, with no reason to wine.
Illinois wineries will, under a new law taking effect in the New Year, be able to reseal already-served bottles for customers to take home. Joe Taylor, whose Sleepy Creek Vineyards are near Fairmount, in Vermilion County, says he hosted a group with at least one participant who wanted to take the wine home after it had been opened. He had to say no, that’s against the law. One person in that group, State Sen. Toi Hutchinson (D-Olympia Fields), sponsored the new law.
