If you like to talk on the phone while driving, you're going to have to make some changes starting this week. A new law in Illinois makes it illegal to talk on your phone without some sort of hands-free device. Illinois State Police spokesperson Monique Bond says the law is designed to cut down on distracted driving.
You can still talk on your phone, but you'll need a Bluetooth device or some other kind of hands-free device. There are also exemptions if you're reporting an emergency or you're parked on the shoulder of a road. The new law begins January 1st.
