New golf carts have arrived at Belk Park in Wood River. The upgrade of the park has been an ongoing project, with changes having been made to the driving range over the past year or so. City crews have also fixed the fencing, and upgraded the overall look of the facility. Park & Recreation Director Jason Woody says the new carts arrived last week, and there have been a few things to deal with before putting them into use.
They were sent 10 foot chargers, because the 18 foot cords are on back order. As for fees, he says there are no significant changes to report. Belk Park has gone through a series of management changes in recent years, but by running on an all part-time staff, the city has been able to save a significant amount of money. The city has farmed out the maintenance to a private entity, and they no longer employ a golf pro.
