The newly hired superintendent of the Bethalto School District has a new three-year contract to start her career. Dr. Jill Griffin isn’t actually new to the district, but was hired as the new superintendent, replacing Charles Stegall. Griffin began her position on July 1.
Griffin is a longtime district employee and most recently served as assistant superintendent before being hired to head the district. Her three-year deal is worth $145,000 per year. The Bethalto School Board also approved a multi-year contract for new Civic Memorial Athletic Director Adam Miller, which is worth $80,000 per year. School district administrators also received 3-percent pay raises during the special board meeting last week. The district also signed off on contracts that will make improvements within the district including HVAC and electrical work at the high school, flooring and electrical work at Parkside, and roof work at Trimpe and Bethalto East. The contract with Kehrer Brothers Construction of Albers is worth $1.5 million.
