Several administrative reports were heard and both the CMHS 2016 summer school program and a new concussion policy were approved at the Bethalto School Board meeting Monday. Also at the meeting, several student disciplinary cases were sorted out in executive session.

Civic Memorial High School Principal Justin Newell says the high school has made changes to the policy as a whole but certain cases have been the focus of the policy reevaluation.

Newell says a 504 sets accommodations for the student with multiple concussions for a full year. He also says they have put together a team which is implemented in the case of multiple concussions.

In routine cases involving concussions, a report is made and the school nurse is notified by the following morning. Newell says they are already using much of the new policy.
