Disaster can happen anywhere at anytime, evidenced by the lead contamination in Detroit's drinking water, massive flooding in New Orleans, or terror attacks at locations around the globe.  The Madison County Health Department is hoping you will get trained to help out during times of emergency, whether the disaster is natural or man-made.  The next disaster training is planned for late September.

In a large scale disaster, department spokesman Amy Yeager tells The Big Z volunteers with a variety of skills may be needed to spring into action.

The county's Medical Reserve Corps holds periodic training sessions, and the next one is planned for September 26 at the Health Department in Wood River. The registration deadline is September 19.  For more information call 296-6096.
