The Madison County State’s Attorney has announced that murder charges have been filed in connection with a fatal shooting in Madison, Illinois. 24-year old Deneshion M. Swope has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder for allegedly shooting 21-year old Jarrett D. Mosby during the early morning hours of December 23rd.
According to a press release from the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, Swope allegedly shot Mosby seven times with a 9mm handgun in Mosby’s car after a suspected drug deal went wrong. Swope is also accused of moving the vehicle from where the shooting occurred to where it was found by police on the afternoon of December 23rd.
Swope is currently in custody of St. Clair County Police and will be transported to the Madison County Jail, where he will be held on a $500,000 bond. If convicted, Swope faces 20-60 years in prison on each count of first-degree murder. He would be required to serve 100% of any sentence levied against him.
