The Alton Municipal Band opens its 126th season this Thursday. The long running organization will play each Thursday and Sunday evening starting June 9 and running until the final performance on August 4. This year, the audience will see the band play in familiar surroundings.
The group had to perform at the Alton Amphitheater last season due to construction at Riverview Park, but that work is nearly complete so the group is back at Riverview. Band conductor David Drillinger tells the Big Z to have a long running group like the Muny Band in a community is unique:

Thursday shows will be held at 8pm at Riverview Park, while the Sunday performances will begin at 7pm at Haskell Park. The final show of the season is August 4 at Lewis and Clark Community College inside Haskell Hall.
