More money is flowing into tax coffers in most states. A new study shows only three of 48 states didn't post tax revenue gains in this year's third quarter, compared to last year's numbers. The Rockefeller Institute of Government report says Delaware, Iowa and Missouri failed to increase tax revenues. Illinois, Texas and Alaska registered the biggest jumps.

The biggest gains across the states were in personal income tax revenues, which rose more than nine percent. The institute reports that total tax revenues across the states returned to pre-recession levels during 2011's third quarter.
