More homes are being built in unincorporated Madison County than at any time since the recession began in 2008. The Madison County Planning & Development Department reports an increase in permits for new home construction for the fourth straight year.
Department spokesman Leah Dettmers tells The Big Z there are many reasons why.

The county issued 133 new home permits in 2014, 109 in 2013, 77 in 2012, and 67 in 2011. Before the recession, Madison County typically issued around 150 new home permits per year.
