Police in O’Fallon, Illinois, are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for damage to the city veteran’s monument over the weekend. However, police are also talking to weather experts to see if a strong gust of wind might have knocked over two large stones late Sunday or early Monday.
O’Fallon Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information on the damage if it was caused by someone other than Mother Nature. Storms moved through the Metro East on Sunday night and Monday morning, and might have caused the damage, but police are also looking at nearby surveillance video to see if it picked up any pictures of what might have caused the damage. Replacing the stones will cost approximately $10,000.
