If Mama ain’t happy… A “Mama Summit” in the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday is an early event of the fledgling Illinois chapter of the Moms Clean Air Force. The group is for renewable fuel standards and against carbon pollution. Asthma helped spoil Halloween for a 13-year-old girl, said her mother. “She was so excited to go out there and trick-or-treat with her friends,” said Carrie Woodruff of Schaumburg, whom the event’s emcee described as a “supermom.” “25 minutes later, she was back home on a nebulizer, and her friends went out without her, and she was left … in the safety of her home.”

The group is advocating for the Clean Power Plan, introduced last year by the federal EPA.
The size of the crowd, perhaps a third that of the group making the presentation, did not deter State Rep. Ann Williams (D-Chicago). “The membership is pretty big in Illinois,” she said. “But a lot of them are moms – home with kids and stuff. But, believe me, we are hearing from them a lot.”
