Although the Downtown Alton Farmers’ Market has closed for the season, you can still find fresh, locally grown produce and flowers in the city. Many of the vendors that sold their wares at the Landmarks Boulevard location this summer have banded together to take their business to the Old Milton Schoolhouse, where a new market will be hosted by Maiva’s Coffee.
While the weather remains good, the farmers will set up on the parking lot at the old school on Milton Road. Once it gets colder, they may move inside. Clifford Clark is an active gardener who helped launch this new venture. He says there are still plenty of late-season crops that are available to the savvy consumer.

He says visitors will find sweet potatoes, pumpkins and winter squash for their Halloween decorations as well as the Thanksgiving table. The Milton Farmers’ Market will be held each Saturday from 9am-noon.
