The Primary Election in Madison County saw a handful of contested races for County Board seats, but most eyes were on the Democratic race for Recorder. Incumbent Democrat Amy Meyer beat challenger Shannon Bradford 18,453 - 10,973.
In County Board District 2, it was a Republican contest. Donald Moore beat Roger Alons 873 - 563. In District 3, Phillip Chapman of Highland garnered the most votes with 898, compared to Republican Bill Meyer of Hamel with 805 and Rodney Dustman of Worden with 199. In District 6, Raymond Wesley of Alton defeated David Baker of Godfrey 734 - 562 for the Republican nomination. In District 19, Granite City Democrat Michael Parkinson beat fellow Granite City resident Harry Briggs 1026 - 572.
