Two Alton men are facing charges after allegedly firing guns in separate incidents last weekend. One man was reportedly firing his gun in the air in an attempt to disperse some juveniles that would not leave the area. The other man apparently fired his gun in the air in an effort to break up some women who were fighting.
Charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon are 22 year old Jerome Wilson of the 1100 block of Milnor Avenue and Damon E. Williams of the 2000 block of Hazel Street, both in Alton. Police were called the area of Williams home late Friday night after reports of shots fired. Williams said he had told several juveniles to leave the area and when they would not, he fired his gun in the air several times. Then early Sunday evening, Wilson allegedly fired a shotgun in the air to disperse women who were fighting near his home. Both men were arrested and charged this week in Madison County Court.
